Rev. Victor Paul Furnish, Ph.D. NEW!
Furnish has long been recognized as among the most influential interpreters of the Apostle Paul. He is a University Distinguished Professor of New Testament (emeritus) at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, as well as a prolific writer.

Among Furnish’s most noteworthy works is The Moral Teaching of Paul, originally published in 1979 and expanded and updated for a third edition in 2009. A review in The Christian Century raves: “The discussion of same-sex relations is alone worth the price of this fine book.”

The Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society rates his Anchor Bible series edition on II Corinthians, published in 1984, as “perhaps the definitive commentary on the letter in English.”

His Theology and Ethics of Paul, first published in 1968, is regarded as among the most useful textbooks on the apostle. In introducing the re-release of the book in 2009, noted New Testament scholar Richard B. Hays called it “a landmark of 20th-century interpretation of Paul, a work that has defined the framework for the ongoing discussion of Paul’s ethical teaching.”
